MARTIN, Tenn. – A 3% in-state tuition increase for University of Tennessee at Martin students was approved July 1 for the 2025-26 academic year by the UT Board of Trustees during the final day of the board’s annual meeting in Chattanooga. A $183 million UT Martin operating budget was also approved during the meeting held at the UT Chattanooga campus.
UT Martin undergraduate students will pay an additional $264 per year starting this fall for a total tuition payment of $9,066 for the academic year. Tuition and existing mandatory fees for full-time, in-state undergraduate students enrolled for 12 or more hours per semester will bring the total cost to $10,824 per academic year. Tuition and current mandatory fees for full-time graduate students will be $11,688 per academic year for an in-state student enrolled for nine or more credit hours.
The proposed increases will cover growth in the costs of providing and maintaining the quality and effectiveness of academic programs, student services and campus infrastructure. The revenue increase will be used primarily for instructional support, student services, scholarships, faculty and staff promotions, fixed-cost increases, and the portion of the 2.6% salary pool not fully funded by state appropriations.
No increases in mandatory fees means a net cost increase for undergraduate students of 2.5% and 2.6% for graduate students. The proposed increases are within the 6.5% maximum recommended by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission.
Although no mandatory fee increases were requested, veterinary technology students will pay $1,400 and $350 respectively to cover the Veterinary Technology National Exam cost with financial aid and the rabies vaccination protocol for students in the program.
Students who take dual enrollment courses through the university’s Dual Enrollment
Program will be assessed at a reduced, estimated rate of $600.25 per three-credit hour course, which will be fully covered by the Tennessee Dual Enrollment Grant and UT Martin Dual Advantage Scholarship. The Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation will approve the Tennessee Dual Enrollment grant amount this summer. Dual enrollment courses allow high school students to earn college-level coursework credit as they complete high school graduation requirements.
