Calloway County, Ky.–A juvenile was injured in a car versus dirt bike accident this afternoon (Juy 4) and was transported by Air Evac to an out of county hospital.
At approximately 2:30pm, the Calloway County Fire & Rescue responded to the Dexter community for a car vs. dirt bike vehicle accident with injuries on McElrath Road. Upon arrival, firefighters and deputies from the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office found a juvenile male injured in a ditch beside his dirt bike.
First aid was provided by units on scene until Murray-Calloway County EMS arrived. With EMS already having Air Evac on standby, Air Evac Lifeteam 108 Mayfield, KY was quickly requested & landed in a nearby yard with help from our firefighters. The patient was flown to an out-of-county hospital & was alert and talking when he left the scene.
Firefighters said, “We’re keeping him in our thoughts & wishing him a fast recovery. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured. CCSO is in charge of the investigation of the vehicle accident.
“CCFR responded with a pumper, support truck, & command vehicle — 7 firefighters in total — and remained on scene for about an hour. Big thanks to EMS & Air Evac 108, as well as our sheriff deputies & dispatchers for the teamwork. When the call comes in, we’re all ready — even on a holiday.”
