TVA: Bulk Electric System Stable & Secure

tva-kingston

From the Tennessee Valley Authority:

TVA has been closely monitoring the extremely hot weather system settling across the Southeast United States. For the Tennessee Valley, current forecasts indicate temperatures in the lower- to mid-90s  through the end of next week. Hotter temperatures mean we will see loads above 31,000 megawatts for much of this time. Not near our all time record.

Currently, the bulk electric system is stable and secure. We have suspended all non-essential maintenance to ensure the reliability and availability of generating assets.

TVA has one of the most diverse power systems in America. We’ve been preparing for summer weather and high demand. This spring, TVA executed nearly 500 preventative maintenance activities at our natural gas, hydro and coal sites. These activities stemmed from lessons learned and best practices from previous summers, as well as robust inspections.

You can save money and help save energy by following these energy saving tips:

• Replace your HVAC system air filter every month.

If you do one thing to save energy this summer do this – get your HVAC serviced. Air conditioning makes up about 50% of your power bill.
