
Martin, Tenn.–One driver was transported to Region One Hospital in Memphis with serious injuries after a collision involving a dump truck and a tractor which closed down Hwy. 22 for a time Monday. The medical helicopter landed on the highway to transport the driver.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report, Burnie Powers Jr., age 82, was driving a 2017 IH tractor when the Freightliner dump truck driven by Joshua Cox, age 41, collided into its rear. Powers was transported to the Memphis hospital.
Cox was cited for driving with no CDL and following too closely. According to the report, both drivers were wearing seat belts.
