Paris, Tenn.–Henry County 4-H and FFA members had an epic day at the 2025 Western Region Beef Expo at UTM on June 14th. The show is a warm up to the State Beef Expo which will be held at the Wilson County Fairgrounds July 10-12th.
Harrelson student Gatlin Gulish swept the day, being honored with the Supreme Champion Heifer as well as the Supreme Champion Market Steer. He won Junior High Heifer Showmanship and was Reserve in Steer Showmanship. Gatlin was also the Jr High Skillathon champion and ended the day being named the Junior High Premier Exhibitor.
Gatlin’s steer was part of the Champion County Group of 5 Steers and he was joined by HCHS students Cori Hopkins, Dallas Bomar and Ruby McClure to secure that win.
Harrelson also saw students Curtis Bomar being named Shorthorn Champion while Luke Moore won all 3 of his heifer classes. Curtis and Luke’s heifers joined with Dallas Bomar and Cori Hopkins to win the County Group of 5 Heifers.
Lakewood student Addilyn DeShields was awarded as the Reserve Champion Simmental heifer and placed 3rd in a super tough Steer Showmanship class.
Recent HCHS Graduate Blaire Lamon was awarded the Senior High Premier Exhibitor after winning her steer class, Senior 2 Showmanship and Senior High Skillathon. Dallas Bomar was named Reserve Champion with his Shorthorn and Shorthorn Plus heifers.
These students have been putting in the hours towards making their projects successful and we cannot wait to see the finale of their work at the Henry County Fair.
