Cottage Grove Council Accepts 2025 Tax Rate

Cottage Grove, Tenn.–At the Cottage Grove Legislative Council meeting Tuesday, council accepted the buget and the 2025 tax rate.

The 2025 Tax Rate Ordinance with the new proposed tax rate of .2272 was accepted.

The 2025/2026 Proposed Budget was presented for the second reading and approval. The 2025/2026 Proposed Budget Ordinance was presented for the second reading and approval.

A proposed new Animal Ordinance was presented to the city council. After discussion, the ordinance was cancelled due to a lack of a second. The city will continue to observe the current animal ordinances.

There were three bids submitted for the Maple Street drainage issue. Lewy’s Sod, Landscaping and Dirt Work submitted a bid for $5,550, for the complete work. Woody’s Excavator Service submitted two bids, one for the clean-up and one for the completion of the work, totaling $3150. The council approved of and accepted Woody’s for the job.

Michael Stewart requested the city approve of TRRA funds of $1500 for the fireworks show at the 2025 Cottage Grove Freedom Festival. The council approved the use of the funds. The city will also pay for the advertising expenses for the show.
