Union City, Tenn.–The Union City Coca-Cola Bottling Company was honored by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Deveopment for over a century of service, legacy and local impact. A presentation was made at the company, with Obion County Chamber, county and city officials on hand.
Founded in 1909 by Hugh “Coca-Cola” Smith on South Division Street, the company has remained a cornerstone of Obion County for generations. The Graham family became stewards of the business in 1946 when Newell Graham’s grandparents purchased it, and his father, Hardy Moore, led operations for many years. In 1968, the business moved to its current location on East Reelfoot Avenue. Though bottling ceased in 2007, the company continues to thrive as a sales, distribution, and administration facility under the leadership of Newell and his son, Richard Graham.
Obion County Chamber officials said, “Thank you to the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development for recognizing this milestone and presenting a certificate of achievement. We are proud to celebrate this legacy of resilience, service, and family tradition in Obion County!”
