The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center is entering an exciting new era, thanks to a collaborative partnership between the Town of Huntingdon and local nonprofit Friends of The Dixie. This transition marks a renewed focus on growth, community involvement, and long-term sustainability for the beloved arts venue.

Starting this summer, Friends of The Dixie will begin overseeing daily operations at The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center. This shift enables the organization to expand its support for the arts through increased community engagement, strategic partnerships, and access to new fundraising opportunities.

“This is about preserving and investing in a treasured community asset,” said Mayor Chad Edwards. “The Friends of the Dixie have already shown tremendous passion and commitment, and we’re confident this partnership will help The Dixie flourish for years to come.”

The decision—made in coordination with the Mayor and Town Council—reflects a shared vision for The Dixie’s future as a vibrant, community-powered destination for arts and culture.

“This isn’t just an operational change—it’s a recommitment to everything The Dixie stands for,” said Krista Martin, President of Friends of The Dixie. “We’re focused on continuing to support high-quality programming, expanding access to the arts, and helping The Dixie grow into a regional hub for creativity and cultural enrichment.”

Friends of The Dixie is a volunteer-led nonprofit made up of local residents, performers, and arts advocates. “We’re proud to work hand-in-hand with the Town of Huntingdon to honor The Dixie’s legacy and support its growth,” said Martin. “This is a community effort, and we’re excited to carry The Dixie forward into its next chapter.”

“We’re  thrilled to have Friends of The Dixie stepping in alongside us as partners in this next chapter. Their passion, energy, and deep-rooted connection to our community align perfectly with The Dixie’s mission. This collaboration strengthens our ability to serve as a cultural cornerstone in West Tennessee and ensures that the arts remain accessible, vibrant, and inspiring for generations to come, ” said Rosemary Radford, Brand Manager of The Dixie.

All upcoming shows, events, and educational programs will continue as scheduled. The Friends of The Dixie and Town leadership are working closely to ensure a smooth transition, with an unwavering commitment to excellence and community engagement.
