Huntingdon, Tenn.–While the recent earthquake in East TN didn’t cause any major damage, TDOT crews are ready to respond if needed. TDOT Strike Force is a team of elite operations personnel who provide assistance, both in TN and in other states, during disasters. They underwent a drill in Carroll County last week focused on earthquake response. That included activities like establishing routes for emergency services, damage assessments, and bridge inspections. They also used a scheduled repair on a culvert of SR 22 in McKenzie to practice coordination for emergency repairs and traffic management on a potential evacuation route.
While this drill was scheduled prior to the recent earthquake, it serves as a good reminder to stay vigilant with emergency preparedness. The New Madrid Fault Line runs through Western Tennessee.
