William “Bill” Smothers, age 64 of Buchanan, TN, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025, at his residence. His funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 23rd, at McEvoy Funeral with burial to follow in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until funeral time at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23rd at McEvoy Funeral Home.
Bill Smothers was born October 7, 1960, in Cleveland, OH, to the late Paul Everette and Brenda J. Hatcher Smothers.
Bill served in the U.S. Army for 8 years. He was a hard worker in house construction. He loved football, baseball, and fishing. He was a member of Open Doors Community Church.
Bill is survived by daughters: Stacy Smothers of Paris; Olivia Smothers of Manchester, TN and Sarah Sykes (Brian) of Puryear, TN; son Hunter Smothers of Paris; sister, Patricia Blaylock of Paris; brother, Alvin (Christina) Smothers of Fulton, KY; and grandchildren: Gracie Smothers, Matthew Amerski, Rebecca Sykes, and Oliver Bennett.
Besides his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by a daughter, Billie Ray Smothers; brother, Paul “Twister” Smothers, Jr., and two nephews: Michael Smothers and Jason Blaylock.
Pallbearers for Mr. Smothers will be Alvin Smothers, Chris Smothers, Hunter Smothers, Brian Sykes, Robert Porter, Jr., and Steve Martinez.
