
Union City, Tenn.–Soldiers from the 1-230th Assault Helicopter Battalion, alongside members of the Union City Fire Department and WATCH7 Healthcare Coalition, conducted aerial evacuation training at Baptist Union City Hospital on May 15, as part of a coordinated response to a simulated catastrophic earthquake scenario.
Vigilant Guard is a national-level, annual disaster response exercise sponsored by U.S. Northern Command, FEMA, and the National Guard Bureau. From May 12–18, the Tennessee Military Department and more than 30 partner agencies are working together to conduct real-world training scenarios based on a simulated catastrophic earthquake. This effort strengthens coordination, communication, and response capabilities across the state.
