MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin will host seven in-person sessions and one virtual session for its Summer Orientation And Registration event this summer, known as SOAR.
SOAR is a one-day orientation experience designed to introduce first-year students and transfer students to the university and ease the transition into college life. Students will register for their fall 2025 classes and attend a variety of informational sessions.
SOAR sessions also provide information for parents whose students are coming to the university for the first time.
The first three in-person sessions – scheduled for May 19, May 20 and June 6 – are all full, but the following four in-person sessions – scheduled for June 20, July 11, July 25 and Aug. 8 – are all open for registration. Students must have been accepted by UT Martin to register for SOAR.
The virtual SOAR is scheduled for June 26 and will be held via Zoom.
The in-person SOAR day begins at 8 a.m. CT with check-in and an administrative fair. Students will meet their orientation leader and will attend special-interest workshops before lunch. Students will then meet their success counselor before going through advising and course registration at 2 p.m.
While this is going on, parents will take part in a “Real Talk” discussion about college and hear about foundations for success. They will meet with a student panel and have lunch with UTM administrators. They will then hear from informational panels before attending a parent reception at 1:45 p.m.
The virtual SOAR day begins with a welcome at 9 a.m. before taking part in a live question-and-answer panel. Students will meet their orientation leaders and success counselors before having an advising and registration session at 11:30 a.m.
