Stewart County Sheriff Frankie Gray said Stewart County is definitely not the place to bring your drugs or sell your drugs.

“Deputies are relentless in their effort to clean up our county. In addition to the deputies drug offenders also have to contend with our K-9’s. Not much gets past their noses especially K-9 Harry,”” he said.

During a traffic stop at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday May 6th, Corporal Josh Miller became suspicious by the actions of the occupants that drugs may be in the vehicle. The driver refused to consent to a search of the vehicle.

Lt. Robbie MacDonald arrived on the scene and deployed K-9 Harry. It took just a few seconds for K-9 Harry to give a positive indication that drugs were present in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle turned up meth, heroin, fentanyl, marijuana and assorted drug paraphernalia.

When booked in the Detention Center, morphine and tramadol hydrochloride was also found.

Arrested was Sheryl Smith, age 45, of Big Rock, who was charged with numerous counts.
