Billy Joe was a retired machine operator from Plumley Rubber Company. He also served as a minister of the gospel for 20 years. He was a member of Christ Gospel Church in Camden, TN, and enjoyed watching westerns, especially Gunsmoke.
Born April 8, 1940, in Mansfield, TN, he was the son of the late Elvis L. French and the late Rosie Mabel Sanders French.
He is survived by his son, Mikael Joe “Mike” (Denise Brooks) French of Clarksville, IN; a daughter in law, Pat French of Big Sandy, TN; two sisters, Mary Lou Norwood of Morehead, KY, and Glenda (Alton) Hollingsworth of Paris, TN; six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by three children, Tammy French, Timothy French, and Tony French; four sisters, Ruby Bennett, Mamie Iola Turner, Angie Elizabeth Peach, and Birdie May Crosno; three brothers, Franklin D. French, William Wesley French, and Morris Luther French; former wife, Virginia Modine French; and one grandchild.
Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St./ P.O. Box 788, Paris, TN 38242, will be handling the services. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm, with his funeral service to be held Wednesday April 30, 2025, at 1:00 pm.
Burial will follow the service in the Henry County Tabernacle Cemetery in Springville, TN.
