McKENZIE, TN — Bethel University will proudly celebrate the achievements of approximately 300 graduates during its Spring Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in Crisp Arena. The University is honored to welcome alumna, best-selling author, and celebrated humorist Susannah B. Lewis as this year’s keynote speaker.

A 2007 graduate of Bethel University, Lewis has since become a nationally recognized voice in Christian literature and entertainment. She is the author of multiple USA Today best-selling books, including two works of Christian nonfiction and four fiction titles. Her candid, faith-driven reflections on life and motherhood have earned her a devoted audience, and her work has been featured in Parents Magazine, Reader’s Digest, and The Bible App. In addition to her writing, Lewis is the host of the Moral of the Story Podcast, produced by K-LOVE, where she shares heartfelt and humorous insights grounded in Christian faith.

“Susannah B. Lewis embodies the spirit of Bethel University—faithful, bold, compassionate, and driven by purpose,” said Bethel University President Perry Moulds. “Her journey from the classroom to the national stage is an inspiring testament to what our graduates can achieve when they lead lives of integrity and faith. We are thrilled to welcome her back to campus to share her wisdom and encouragement with our graduates and their families.”

Lewis, a Medina, Tennessee native, lives with her husband, their three children, and six dogs. She credits her small-town roots and her Bethel education for shaping her creative voice and deepening her Christian worldview.

“I’m honored to return to Bethel to speak to the graduating class,” said Lewis. “I hope to encourage these new graduates to follow their God-given calling, to embrace the detours, and to never lose their sense of humor along the way.”

The 2025 graduating class includes students from Bethel’s College of Arts and Sciences, College of Professional Studies, and College of Health Sciences, representing a wide range of degree programs including business, nursing, education, criminal justice, and ministry.

“Our graduates are stepping into the world at a time that calls for resilience, compassion, and leadership,” Dr. Moulds added. “Whether they are entering the workforce, continuing their education, or serving their communities, we are confident they are prepared to make a meaningful impact.”
