Tiptonville Man Sentenced To 16 Years In Prison On Meth Charges

Tiptonville, Tenn.–A Tiptonville man was sentenced to 16 years in prison on drug charges.
In December 2024, Michael Sneed entered a guilty plea to two counts of Sale of Schedule II Methamphetamine over 0.5 grams. Each offense was a Class B Felony.
On April 22, 2025, the Honorable Tony Childress sentenced Sneed to 16 years imprisonment with the Department of Corrections. Pursuant to State law, Sneed must serve at least 35% of the sentence before he becomes eligible for parole.
The cases arose in March 2023, special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s narcotics division utilized an undercover informant to purchase methamphetamine from Sneed and an accomplice on two occasions. On March 9, the
informant purchased an “eight ball” – approximately 3 grams. The following day, the same informant bought just under one half of an ounce (13 grams). Based on his prior felony convictions, including a prior sale of cocaine, Sneed faced a range of punishment of 12 to 20 years at sentencing.
District Attorney Danny H. Goodman, Jr. stated, “We have all had friends or family members who have had their lives destroyed due to drug addiction. At the 29th Judicial District Attorney General’s Office, we will continue to fight drugs in our communities in attempt to protect our children and all our citizens.”
This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Andrew Hays.
