Four junior class members checked all the boxes and were chosen to represent Union City High School as Girls and Boys State delegates.

UCHS officials picked Clare Atwill, Rylee Stone, Landon McAdams, and Tristan Lynch to participate in the annual conferences that promote citizenship and leadership while exploring the mechanics of American government and politics.

Among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for high school students, both the girls’ and boys’ conventions will be held May 25-30. American Legion Auxiliary Girls State will take place on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville. At the same time, boys from across Tennessee will gather for the AL event at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville.

It will mark the 78th such session for the girls to convene while boys from across the state gather for the 86th time.

Each UC High School delegate is heavily involved in school and community activities and has been recognized for numerous accomplishments.

Among the honorees are:

Clare Atwill – Atwill is a member of the prestigious UCHS 30+ ACT Club and academically ranks in the Top 10 in her class while taking magnet school courses.

She’s a member of the Beta and Key Clubs, plays volleyball, and is a class officer.

Community-wise, Atwill has aided with Chimes for Charity and Breakfast With Santa while also assisting with the Feeding of the 5,000 as a volunteer. She’s an assistant Sunday School teacher, too.

She enjoys reading in her spare time and works part-time at Nutrition 33.

Atwill’s future plans include attending a four-year college while exploring a degree in the STEM field.

Rylee Stone – Rylee is also a member of the esteemed 30+ ACT Club and a member of the junior class Top 10. She’s been chosen as the Kiwanis Student of the Month and was selected by the UC Rotary Club to travel to Washington, D.C.

Twice, she has been elected as a class officer and has been chosen to participate in the Obion County Youth Leadership program. She’s been a member of the Golden Tornado cheerleading squad and played volleyball for two years.

Stone attends Crosswind Church and has participated in the Second Baptist Church youth program. She enjoys reading in her free time and works part-time at Miles and Bishop.

Rylee’s post-second plans are to attend the University of Tennessee and major in neuroscience.

Landon McAdams – The well-rounded McAdams already boasts a packed resume of activities and accomplishments.

With future plans of attending a four-year private Christian school to study music and worship, he already has experience in the UCHS marching band, concert band, and as a youth worship leader at Second Baptist Church. He’s also been a volunteer for vacation bible school at SBC and sings in the church choir.

Landon is a member of the Drama Club, the Beta Club, and the All-West Band and has volunteered at the Masquerade Theatre, community theatre, and for the Feeding of the 5,000.

Academically, his accomplishments are many. A member of the 30+ ACT Club, the Top 10, and selected for the Kiwanis Club Student of the Month honor, McAdams was also chosen for the Rotary Club’s Washington, D.C. trip.

He enjoys family time, playing musical instruments, and singing in his spare time. Landon has also been a member of the summer crew at Union City Schools while also working at Discovery Park of America.

Tristan Lynch – Tristan is the fourth member of the UCHS contingent to earn a spot in the prestigious 30+ ACT Club and likewise has a spot in the Junior Class Top 10. He has been named to the UT Martin Honors Band and received a Superior rating as a soloist and in ensemble.

In addition to the Marching Band, Lynch is a member of the Key Club and the Beta Club. He’s volunteered with the Special Olympics and Obion County Prevention Coalition and also worked as a tutor.

Tristan’s hobbies include practicing his drum and going to the gym, and he works part-time at Little Ceasar’s.
