“What we thought was one tornado was actually two.
The National Weather Service in Memphis has verified that there was an EF-2 tornado that touched down in Latham on 4/2/2025. The National Weather Service in Paducah verified an EF-1 tornado in the Palmersville area just minutes later. The chance of another one being on the ground at the same time is not out of the question as we had five areas of rotation over Weakley County at one time that night.
This is the first time we’ve verified multiple tornadoes in our county on the same date. By many metrics, the 4/2/2025 tornado outbreak will go down as a historic event.”
