Three Rescued When Boat Capsizes In Extreme Current

Obion, Tenn.–Three people were rescued from the water after their boat had capsized due to extreme currents in Obion County Tuesday

At approximately 4:12 pm, the Obion Fire Department was dispatched to HWY 51 South to respond to a water rescue incident involving three individuals whose boat had capsized due to extreme current.
Obion Fire Department responded promptly, launching their first boat approximately five minutes after dispatch. The exact location of the victims was unknown at the time of launch. Rescuers from Obion Fire located the victims two miles south of the launch site and 100 yards off in the woods, all three clinging to trees in the current.
The victims were pulled from the water and transported to the roadway. One of the three victims was airlifted by Air Evac, while the other two did not require treatment or transport.
