90 Year Sentence For Aggravated Rape During Dyersburg Robbery

Dyersburg, TN –Jimmy Taylor, 37 of Ripley has been sentenced to a total of ninety (90) years in the Tennessee Department of Corrections for Aggravated Rape and Aggravated Robbery that occurred in Dyersburg. Danny Goodman, Jr, District Attorney General for the 29th Judicial District announced the sentence on April 7, 2025. Judge Mark Hayes sentenced, Jimmy Taylor to sixty (60) years for aggravated rape and an additional thirty (30) years for the aggravated robbery for a total of ninety (90) years.
According to information presented in court, on June 21, 2022, Jimmy Taylor entered a local title loan/check cashing business and asked for a title loan. Without warning, Jimmy Taylor sprayed the clerk’s face with mace and demanded money from the business. After receiving the money, he forced the clerk into a back room where she was raped by Jimmy Taylor.
District Attorney General Danny Goodman, Jr. said, “There are few crimes more horrific than this case and the defendant does not need to be free in society to continue to terrorize innocent people. I want to thank Assistant District Attorney Tim Boxx for the countless hours he spent working on this case to ensure that no one else will have to face this violent and dangerous individual.”
This case was investigated by the Dyersburg Police Department and was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney General Tim Boxx.
