Since 5 a.m. this morning, the Dyersburg Fire Department, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA), and the Dyer County Rescue Squad have been rescuing residents from their homes in South Dyersburg due to rising floodwaters. So far, 21 people have been rescued, and some are temporarily housed at the downtown storm shelter. Mayor John Holden said the American Red Cross will soon establish a permanent shelter at the First United Methodist Church. “We will let you know when that is available.”
