The Harvey Vick Community Room was opened for displaced individuals and animals that needed to he evacuated. We were blessed to have the Fulton County Transit Authority who responded in force with 5 transit vehicles and for Ms. Darcy Lynn of the City of Fulton dog pound who was on standby to help coordinate any animals who were transported with their owners.
Chief Curtis said, “I would like to personally thank Fulton County Fire and Rescue for making available 2 boats and Chief Sean Fulcher of Latham-Dukedom Fire Department who offered to assist in anything we needed.
South Fulton Fire Departments personnel is a very limited number. Our Firefighters are Volunteers whose availability is sometimes hindered due to work and other obligation’s. Events such as this require that personal biases and opinions take a back seat to ultimately doing what is best to ensure that our city receives the help it needs when it needs it. We are grateful that each of these departments were willing to coordinate with the Fire Department today and make themselves and their resources available. Without them, today’s operation would not have been as successful.”
