Three students in Dan Burnham’s Coding classes have successfully tackled the ultimate DIY project.

Using practical applications and hands-on experience learned from Burnham’s lessons in the CompTIA Fundamentals program, Beto Martinez, Taurus Thomas, and Felipe Lopez have built their own computers.

Martinez was the first to take the initiative, successfully building his own computer. Inspired by his achievement, Drake Chism followed suit. In a collaborative effort, Martinez is now assisting Thomas in building his computer, with additional support from Lopez.

The CompTIA Fundamentals program is designed to prepare students for entry-level IT careers by providing them with a solid understanding of IT concepts and skills. As part of this program, students learn about the different parts of a computer and how they work together.

Burnham was understandably pleased with his students’ initiative and eagerness to apply what they’ve learned in his classes.

“This hands-on project not only reinforces the students’ understanding of their coursework but also equips them with valuable skills for their future careers in IT,” the UCHS teacher claimed.

“As a teacher, it’s rewarding to provide practical learning experiences that pay off as students demonstrate their ability to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios.”
