Weakley County Schools invites the community to attend the sixth annual Arts Festival, showcasing the artistic talents of students from PreK through 12th grade.
This year’s festival will take place at Gleason School on April 5 from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM, featuring a range of works in painting, mixed media, digital art, ceramics, fiber art, and more. Whether it’s a carefully crafted piece of pottery, a stunning photograph, or a thought-provoking painting, these displays will represent hours of dedication and passion.
This show brings together the top talent from across the county, making it a must-see event for art lovers and community supporters alike. Each work of art on display has already been recognized as one of the best in its school, earning a place at the county level. Additional displays will highlight the creative Beta entries that were recognized at this year’s state convention.
Organizations and classes across the county have banded together to support the festival, each lending their special set of talents to make the festival a success, while getting real-world experience applying what they’ve learned in their classes.
“This event showcases more than just artwork—it’s a beautiful collaboration between students, teachers, and the community,” emphasized Karen Campbell, WCS Art Show Coordinator. “Every piece, every award, every display has a story behind it, and we’re thrilled to get to share a glimpse of those stories with our community.”
Dresden and Westview High School digital arts classes have been deep in competition to design the perfect Arts Festival logo to use across branding. Arnoldo Aleman, a 17-year-old senior from Westview High School, submitted the winning logo, which will be prominently displayed in all festival marketing efforts.
From that logo project, the Westview High School View Crew and Dresden High School Entrepreneurship students are screenprinting aprons using the winning design for each student artist advancing to the county level.
On the marketing level, Westview’s business students have been crafting social media graphics aimed at supporting the arts, allowing them to practice creating eye-catching designs and cohesive messages encouraging support of our student artists and attendance at the festival.
As another layer of recognition, Gleason students have been designing and producing second and third place medallions, while Westview students have taken on the challenge of creating first-place trophies to honor our outstanding first-place winners. Thanks to generous donations from community sponsors, each first-place winner will also receive a cash prize. To bring it all together, agriculture students will be lending their skills to construct display pieces that allow all of the wonderful artwork to shine in the best possible way.
Guests will also be treated to musical performances from our talented student musicians from across the county while enjoying the displays, adding another layer to the festival experience.
This isn’t just an art show, it’s a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and community. Whether you’re a local art enthusiast, a supporter of local schools, or simply looking for a fun and inspiring way to spend the morning, we invite you to be part of this annual event taking place at Gleason School on April 5 from 11 AM to 1:30 PM.
