Juvenile Charged With ‘Reckless Homicide’ In Death Of Young Man

Dyer County, Tenn.–The Dyer County Sheriff’s Office  issued a report on a tragic incident that occurred on March 20, 2025, resulting in the loss of a young life.
Deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a male who had been shot. Upon arrival, they found the victim, identified as 21-year-old Ethan Pike, a white male, who was subsequently treated at the scene and transported by Medical Center EMS to a local hospital. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of medical personnel, Mr. Pike succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased after arrival.
In response to this incident, the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division quickly mobilized to conduct a thorough inquiry into this heartbreaking loss of life. Investigators conducted interviews, collected evidence, and secured the murder weapon. Also, an autopsy was ordered by the Dyer County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the exact cause and manner of death. In consultation with District Attorney General Danny Goodman Jr., a suspect has been charged with reckless homicide.
Due to the suspect being a juvenile, his identity is being withheld at this  time.
Sheriff Jeff Box expressed his condolences and appreciation for the swift actions of all involved. “Thank you to those who responded, the first responders, deputies and investigators, immediately securing of the scene, preservation of necessary evidence, and identification of a suspect in this case,” Sheriff Box stated. “Any loss of life in our community is tragic, and our prayers are with those who are hurting as a result of this reckless action.”
The Dyer County Sheriff’s Office is committed to ensuring the community’s safety and will continue to investigate this case diligently. We urge anyone with additional information to come forward and assist in our efforts, Our prayers are with Mr. Pike and his family.
