Troy, Tenn.–Thanks to quick response from firefighters early this morning, a fire at the Obion County Central High School was confined to one classroom. No one was injured.
The Troy Fire Department was dispatched via 911 for a smoke alarm call at the school at 1:37 AM. Responding Firefighters noticed heavy smoke upon arrival and requested Mutual Aid from Hornbeak Fire Department and Obion Fire Department.
Troy Fire Chief made entry into the classroom and extinguished the fire in the right corner of the classroom. The automatic sprinkler system was activated which helped contain the fire to one area. The cause of the fire was believed to have started by a over heated appliance. There is no suspicion at this time pending a investigation by the TBI. No faculty or students were in the school at the time of this incident.
According to the Hornbeak Fire Department, smoke was showing in hallway with a small fire in a classroom when firefighters arrived. Fire was quickly extinguished. Overhaul and smoke ejection preformed. Minimal fire damage contained to one classroom. Some water damage from sprinkler activation.
Great teamwork from all agencies involved.
