MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Former State Sen. Brian Kelsey has now reported to federal prison after pleading guilty to campaign violations in 2022.
Kelsey, age 47, is a former Republican senator from Germantown and was indicted on five counts of campaign violations relating to his 2016 run for the U.S. House of Representatives. He pleaded guilty to two counts and was sentenced to 21 months in prison.
Earlier this month, a federal judge denied Kelsey’s motion to stay out of prison while the court considered a request to vacate his sentence.
