MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team dropped a 5-2 decision to DePaul Thursday in its final game of the 2025 Skyhawks Classic at Bettye Giles Field in Martin. Due to a weather-altered schedule the contest was the lone game of the day for the Skyhawks.
UT Martin was first on the board in the game when they struck in the opening frame on a pair of RBI-singles from Kyla Harley and Jordyn Hustey. However, DePaul quickly took the lead in the top of the second when Baylee Cosgrove hit a bases-loaded double to make it 3-2.
The Blue Demons added a pair of insurance runs in the fifth, this time on a two-run home run to right field by Kali Blount. UT Martin would go on to scatter four hits over the final six innings but were unable to score and left six stranded over the same span.
Kennedy Brown was perfect at the plate in the game, going 3-for-3 with a walk, a run and a stolen base. Hustey finished her day at 2-for-4 with one RBI, while Harley tallied one hit, one run, one RBI and one walk.
Hustey got the loss for the Skyhawks in the circle, while Natalie Kreuziger, Ashtyn Green and Rylee Tittle also made appearances for UT Martin. Green went 1.2 innings and allowed no runs on three hits with a strikeout with Tittle finishing the game and allowing no runs on one hit with no walks over a complete inning of work
Next weekend, the Skyhawks will travel to Evansville, Indiana to take part in the 2025 Aces Tournament I on Saturday and Sunday. UT Martin will play four games as part of event, taking on Western Michigan, Ohio State, Saint Louis and the host Purple Aces.
