Union City, Tenn.–Union City Schools did their part in supporting the Upper West Tennessee Area 7 Special Olympics.

Students and staff at UC Schools raised more than $3,500 in conjunction with the 14th annual Polar Plunge this past weekend.

The event raised over $32,000 in all – far exceeding the goal set beforehand.

Students on all three Union City Schools campuses had a hand in contributing to the fund. Each school raised money by designating teachers/administrators to take the plunge by putting money in a personalized jar for a particular candidate.

Union City Elementary School raised nearly $1,800 for the cause, while UCHS also went over $1,000 in donations.

Kindergarten teacher Kristian Foulkes and Vice Principal Bill Kail were representatives of UC Elementary, while Principal Lance Morgan and Vice Principal Cole McAdams hit the water for UCMS.

Teachers/coaches Abby Cruce and Stevie Gossett took the plunge for Union City High School.

Upper West Tennessee Special Olympics represents over 400 athletes in Lake, Obion, Weakley, Henry, and Carroll counties, providing sports competitions and training for adults and children with intellectual disabilities.
