Mr. J. W. Higgins, 91, of Union City passed away 9:00 p.m. Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Greg Lawrence will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cesar Guerrero, Roy Wiley, Guy Walker Gray, Glen Mosier and Bill Franks.
J.W. was born February 13, 1933, in Boaz, Alabama, son of the late Lendon and Essie (Yancy) Higgins.  He married Linda (Willmore) Higgins November 28, 1957.  She survives.  He worked for the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 25 years and also owned service stations in Boaz and Albertville, Alabama.  J. W. was a member of Bishop Street Church of Christ, veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was an avid Alabama football fan.
He is also survived by four daughters, Beverly Gidcumb (Steve) of Union City, Darlene Orr of Union City, Sondra Lawrence (Gregg) of Franklin and Devona May (Jim) of Paris; nine grandchildren, Emily Wells, Lindsey Gidcumb, Joshua Orr, Jeremy Orr, Jonathan Orr, Conner Lawrence, Taylor Lawrence, Carley Poore and Cameron May; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Kimley Jay Higgins; three brothers, Leon Higgins, June Higgins and Marvin Higgins; and four sisters, Clara Parmer, Louise Rogers, Doris Gober and Nena Dickens.
