WLJT-TV Channel 11 is announcing the hiring of Julie Cooke and Tania Tasker to lead the station’s Corporate Underwriting and Sponsorships Team. They will be based out of WLJT’s new Jackson Media Center on Campbell Street and work to connect local businesses and organizations with the shows, projects, and events of WLJT-TV.
“WLJT is very fortunate to add Tania and Julie to our team,” says WLJT General Manager & CEO Peter Noll. “Their enthusiasm and experience will be great assets to Channel 11 as we work to provide more local shows and events for West Tennessee.”
Cooke is a veteran radio personality in West Tennessee, with experience in advertising, production, and special events, having most recently worked at 101.5 FM WNWS News Talk. She also is a former WBBJ news anchor and reporter.
“I’m thrilled to join WLJT-TV, a station that I have watched since it went on the air,” says Cooke. “I’m especially proud to be able to help Channel 11’s mission of community involvement.”
Cooke has hosted several WLJT shows, including “Tennessee is Talking.” She has been involved with many local nonprofit boards, having served on the boards for WRAP, Jackson Theatre Guild, and the Ned Advisory Board. Cooke currently serves on the boards for the Jackson Exchange Club, the Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse, and the Aspell Recovery Center.
An Alamo native, Cooke’s parents are Jule and Betty Nance. She has a daughter who lives with her family in Chattanooga.
Tasker was born and raised in London, England, and now calls Savannah her home. She proudly became a United States Citizen in 2012 at Mount Rushmore. She’s spent over 20 years as a nonprofit executive, raising millions of dollars for U.S. Military families.
“I’ve been a longtime fan of Channel 11, as a donor and volunteer,” says Tasker. “I’m excited to help WLJT continue their legacy of providing quality shows and community involvement.”
Tasker recently traveled to England, and is working on turning her trip into a TV travel show featuring famous TV and movie locations.
She lives on a small farm in Savannah with her husband, 50 ducks, a dog and ten cats. She has four children and seven grandchildren that all call the United States home.
