
MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team put up a fight Saturday afternoon at the Elam Center, but ultimately fell to Tennessee Tech, 70-59.
Despite outshooting the Golden Eagles on the game, 44.0 to 40.8, it was the second quarter that was ultimately the undoing of the Skyhawks. In the second, UT Martin went just 1-for-12 from the floor for a total of only five points, while Tennessee Tech capitalized and scored 21 points of its own.
Kenley McCarn and Daejah Richmond led the Skyhawks in scoring in the game with 13, while McCarn also pulled down a game-high eight rebounds. Anaya Brown finished the game 10 points and five boards, in addition to six points and seven rebounds from Lexi Rubel.
UT Martin begins the second half of the OVC season Thursday when it travels to Southeast Missouri to take on the Redhawks. Tip-off from the Show-Me Center in Cape Girardeau is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
