MARTIN, Tenn. – With year two of the Chelsea Farmer era less than one month away, the University of Tennessee at Martin softball team announced its 2025 schedule Monday.
Four DI Softball Championship participants, a trip to South Carolina, the first home tournament for the Skyhawks since 2020 and four first-time opponents highlight the 2025 slate for UT Martin.
“Our pre-season schedule is going to provide us with a good balance of competition to challenge us and grow our confidence as we work together to turn this newly formed group into an OVC-ready team,” said head coach Chelsea Farmer regarding the schedule.
The Skyhawks will kick-off the 2025 season at the Paladin Invitational Feb. 7-9. While in Greenville, S.C, they will take on first-time opponent South Carolina State, host Furman, familiar foe Evansville and DI transitioning team Stonehill. When UT Martin takes on Stonehill twice in the tournament, it will mark the first time in program history that it will take on another team nicknamed the Skyhawks.
A week later, the Skyhawks open the doors to the friendly confines of Bettye Giles to host the Skyhawk Classic Feb. 14-16. Participating teams in the classic include UT Martin opponents Western Michigan, DePaul and Murray State, as well as Purdue Fort Wayne.
On Feb. 22-23, UT Martin makes the short trip to Evansville for the Aces home tournament where they will face Western Michigan and Evansville for a second time, in addition to Ohio State and Saint Louis.
The Skyhawks will wrap up tournament play Feb. 28-Mar. 2 in the Tennessee Invitational in Knoxville. UT Martin will play its first three game in the tournament against Delaware State, Indiana State, and the host Lady Vols. Following the first three games, the Invitational shifts to bracket play, leaving the Skyhawk’s last two opponents in Knoxville undetermined.
UT Martin has three non-conference midweek games scheduled, with all three taking place on the road. The Skyhawks make the short drive to Murray State Mar. 26, followed by a visit to SEC foe Ole Miss Apr. 9, before finally wrapping up non-conference play Apr. 23 at Southern Illinois.
Due to annual scheduling, the Skyhawks will host just four OVC weekends in 2025. UT Martin welcomes Lindenwood to Bettye Giles Field Mar. 15-16, followed by Eastern Illinois Mar. 22-23. After almost a month on the road, UT Martin returns home Apr. 12-13 to host Tennessee Tech, before wrapping up its home slate Apr. 26-27 against Tennessee State.
