
Obion, Tenn.–Tne Obion Fire Department responded to a water rescue of a stranded duck hunter Saturday night. The victim, uninjured but wet and cold, had been stranded for several hours.
The Fire Depatment was dispatched at 6:08 p.m. regarding the stranded hunter on the Obion River bank.
Upon arrival at Turnpike Boat Ramp, Obion Fire Department established a command post at 6:18pm.
A fellow duck hunter was at the ramp and without hesitation, agreed to transport firefighters down river to locate the victim.
The victim was found approximately seven miles down river. Firefighters assisted the hunter and his dog into the boat of Mr. Kendall and transported them to HWY 51 river bridge, where the Obion County Sheriff’s Office and Baptist EMS were waiting to provide further assistance. The victim was evaluated and later released.
Obion Fire Department launched a second boat, quickly after setting up a command post that allowed firefighters to successfully retrieve and tow the hunter’s boat back to the ramp.
