Rachel Jones Elliott, age 95 of Paris passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025, in Nashville, TN. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 16th at McEvoy Funeral Home with Dr. Jonathan Smith of Fairview Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be after 11:00 am on Thursday, prior to the service. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
Rachel Jones Elliott was born August 4, 1929, in Paris, TN to the late Toncy and Pearl Hudson Jones. On December 22, 1967, she married Otto Elliott, Jr. and he preceded her in death on February 18, 2001.
Rachel was a lifelong and very active member of Fairview Baptist Church. She worked at Henry County Medical Center for many years in several positions, later volunteering as a “Pink Lady”. She worked at Holley Carburetor prior to her marriage to Otto. Rachel enjoyed walking, loved her family very much, and most especially her grandchildren.
Ms. Elliott is survived by her daughter, Pamela R. Parker of Franklin, TN; grandson, Chris D. (Mistie) Underwood of Paris; great-grandchildren: Jamie (Jackson) McClain and Cody Underwood; sister, Marjorie McGarity of Paris; brother, Calvin (Jan) Jones of Paris; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Besides her parents and husband, Rachel was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Dr. Keith R. Parker in 2024; and four brothers: Doris Jones, Douglas Jones, Roger Jones, and James Rowlett.
