Paris, Tenn.–The Rison Street bridge in Paris is now officially reopened. The Public Works crew removed the barricades Monday aftenoon and traffic can once again begin using the bridge. The bridge has been closed since October 2023 due to its deteriorated condition. The City of Paris had –and still has– plans and a grant in place to replace the bridge, but TDOT budget cuts put the project on hold for at least a year. Once the City was made aware of the delay, city officials reached out to TDOT to see what repairs could be made to get the bridge open temporarily. With TDOT’s guidance, and now approval, the needed repairs have been completed, according to City Manager Kim Foster. (City of Paris photo).
