Paris, Tenn.–The Rison Street bridge which has been closed since October 2023 was reopened today.
The Rison Street bridge near Johnson Park had been closed due to deteriorated conditions. The City of Paris has plans and a grant in place to replace the bridge, but TDOT budget cuts have put the project on hold for at least a year. Once the City was made aware of the delay, officials reached out to TDOT to see what repairs could be made to get the bridge open temporarily.
With TDOT’s guidance, and now approval, the needed repairs have been completed, and the Rison Street bridge will be reopened TODAY, January 13, 2025. Public Works personnel will be removing the barricades at 11:00 a.m. and traffic can begin using the bridge again.
The City of Paris apologizes for the extended closure of the Rison Street bridge. City Manager Kim Foster said, “We will continue to keep the public updated on the progress of the replacement project and timing of the new bridge construction.”
