Dover, Tenn.–An arrest has been made in the dumping of seven puppies at Gray’s Crossing in Stewart County and the puppies are now being cared for at the Paris-Henry County Animal Shelter.
The Stewart County Sherff’s Office arrested a Leatherwood man Monday, January 13, and charged him with seven counts of aggravated animal cruelty.
The puppies were placed in a box and left in an area near Gray’s Crossing near the Ned Ray McWherter Bridge at Paris Landing. Stewart County Sheriff Frankie Gray took the complaint Sunday night and followed up Monday on tips he was given and evidence from the box the puppies where in. He was able to track down the man who dumped the puppies.
The arrested inidividual had the puppies in a box and drove them 12-15 miles from his home to dump them.
The puppies were found by a man hunting in the area and contacted an individual connected to a Rescue who then contacted Sheriff Gray.
The puppies are now being fostered and have been given all their shots and wormed. All the puppies are doing well with one pup has already been adopted out. A big thanks to a couple of private individuals for their help and big thanks to Paris Animal Control Officer Zack Braham and the Animal Shelter in Paris for stepping up and taking these puppies.
