Union City, Tenn.–Members of Tornado RISE at Union City Middle School and UC High School participated in the 2024 Upper West Tennessee Area 7 Special Olympics bowling competition in December.

The UC Schools students were among over 100 from across the area to compete in the event, held at Southlane Bowling Center. Proceeds from the Polar Plunge helped make it possible for the Union City students to participate in the competition.

Several chaperones accompanied and encouraged Tornado students, including RISE coordinator and UCMS teacher Cristina King, school administrators Cole McAdams (UCMS) and John Graham (UCHS), and UCMS coach Chris Palmer.

This year’s Polar Plunge is set for Feb. 8, and all three Union City Schools will participate with the goal of raising $1,000 per campus. Selected teachers and administrators from each school will be representatives for the cause, which will again benefit the West Tennessee Area 7 Special Olympics.
