CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) has honored University of Tennessee at Martin linebacker Tevin Shipp on its 27th Annual Academic All-Star Team.

Today’s announcement marks the second academic honor in the last month for Shipp, who was also spotlighted as a 2024 Big South-OVC Football Association All-Academic recipient on Dec. 5.

A graduate out of Smyrna, Tenn., Shipp is one of 54 FCS ADA Academic All-Stars for the 2024 season. The list of winners represent 42 different universities, including six Big South-OVC institutions.

Student-athletes from all FCS schools are eligible for this award. Each of the nominees must be a starter or key player with legitimate athletics credentials and at least a 3.20 cumulative Grade Point Average (on a 4.0 scale) while completing at least four semesters.

Shipp received a pair of degrees during his Skyhawk tenure, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies in December 2022 before earning his Master’s in sport coaching and performance in the summer of 2024. He combined for a 3.34 GPA in his collegiate career, bringing home three OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll awards along with eight mentions on the UT Martin Athletic Director Honor Roll.

On the gridiron, Shipp was part of four consecutive conference championship squads and a pair of FCS playoff appearances, helping the Skyhawks to a 44-24 overall record with a 30-10 mark in league play. He improved his tackle tally in each season, capping off with a career-best 80 stops to go along with career-highs of 5.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, three interceptions and nine passes defended in 2024. Overall, he registered 197 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, nine quarterback hurries and four interceptions – three of which were returned for touchdowns.
