Brian Lee “Big Country” Gibson, 53, of Obion passed away 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Brad Boucher will officiate. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Obion.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Coburn, Daniel Coburn, Rob Hutson, Cory Gibson, Dion McDaniel, Thomas Ray, Kaelan Hudson and Connor Eaves.

Brian was born June 14, 1971, in Union City, son of George Gibson of Union City and the late Janet (Westfall) Lockhart. He was a 1990 graduate of Obion County Central High School and soon after graduation, enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the USS Kalamazoo from 1993 – 1997. He was also a member of the Jones-Walker VFW Post 4862. He spent most of his work career as a truck driver for Williams Sausage Company and Tyson Foods where he was loved and always admired by all.

Brian was a sweet quiet soul that loved his family dearly, enjoyed being outdoors and fishing and was avid Kentucky basketball fan, that never missed a game.

He is also survived by his son, Brylan Gibson and his mother, Gina (Younger) Gibson of Obion; five sisters, Keri Coburn (Steve) of Cookeville, Melissa Hutson (Bryan) of Troy, Nami Watson (Darryl) of Murray, Kentucky, Jennifer Hutchison (Gary) of Union City and Jayna Manseau (Brent) of Munford; two aunts, Donna Dunn (Daniel) of Union City and Beverly Dixon (Rex) of Stewart, Ohio; two uncles, Howard Gibson (Lisa) of Florida and Ralph Six (Sandy) of Athens, Ohio; his sister-in-law, Tracey Gibson of Murfreesboro; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Rusty Gibson; his stepmother, Jo Lynn Gibson; and grandparents, Ralph Sr. and Helen Six, Jewel and Mattie Gibson and Lillie Mae and Aubrey Dunn.
