Family Loses Everything In Henry County House Fire

Henry County, Tenn.–At approx 3:44pm January 4, the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to 105 Oaklawn Estates Road in Paris for a structure fire.

Fire Chief James Martin said upon arrival, firefighters found the home to be fully engulfed in flames. The home, belonging to Samantha Etzel and her family, was a complete loss.

The fire was started when one of their cats knocked over a scented candle which lit nearby curtains. The fire quickly spread from there, he said.

Mutual aid was received from the Paris and Springville fire departments. Oakland responded with two trucks and five firefighters, Paris responded with two trucks and four firefighters, and Springville responded with one truck and four firefighters.
