MARTIN, Tenn.– The five finalists for the 2024 Bill Schwanke Award have been announced and University of Tennessee at Martin broadcaster Davis Gregory was named to the elite list.
The Bill Schwanke Award is named after the longtime Montana Grizzlies announcer and is given out to the top Football Championship Subdivision play-by-play broadcaster in the country.
Gregory joins the group of Montana State’s Keaton Gillogly, Southeastern Louisiana’s Mark Willoughby, Mercer’s Rick Cameron and Richmond’s Bob Black as finalists for the award.
Gregory is currently in his second season as the lead play-by-play announcer for UT Martin calling football, men’s basketball, softball, baseball, soccer and volleyball. Before joining the Skyhawk Sports Network in 2023, Gregory called UT Martin football and basketball games for four years on the campus’ student radio station WUTM 90.3 FM “The Hawk.”
Gregory becomes the first Ohio Valley Conference broadcaster to be named a finalist for the award since Brian Rives of Austin Peay in 2021.
