Huntingdon, Tenn.–The iconic Southern rock and country band Confederate Railroad will hit the stage at the Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 7:30 PM as part of the venue’s highly anticipated Performance Series.
From their breakout debut in the early ’90s to their continued success, Confederate Railroad has become one of the most beloved and enduring names in country music. Led by founder and frontman Danny Shirley, the band first made waves as a backup group for legends David Allan Coe and Johnny Paycheck. Their big break came with the release of their self-titled debut album, which spawned several chart-topping hits including “She Took It Like A Man”, “Jesus and Mama”, and “Queen of Memphis”.
With their unique blend of country, rock, and blues, Confederate Railroad quickly became a staple on the country music charts. The band’s 1992 debut album alone produced six hits and sold nearly three million copies, earning them the Academy of Country Music’s Best New Group Award in 1993. Their subsequent albums, including the hugely successful “Notorious”, cemented their place in music history with songs like “Daddy Never Was the Cadillac Kind” and “Trashy Women”—a Grammy-nominated track that remains their signature song.
“This is going to be a great show for both longtime fans and newcomers alike,” said Angela DeMaris, Executive Director of The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center. “Confederate Railroad has been rocking stages for over 30 years, and their music continues to resonate with audiences everywhere. We’re thrilled to welcome them to our stage for what promises to be an unforgettable night.”
