
Linda Lee Gill Holley, 68, of South Fulton, Tennessee, passed away on November 23, 2024, surrounded by family. Her body is free now after suffering many years from multi-organ failure.
Linda grew up in Rutherford, Tennessee, daughter of Charles Allen and Mary Helen Barnett Gill. Her family owned Gill’s Jewelry Store, resided on Callis Drive, and celebrated the Davy Crockett Festival annually.
Linda graduated from Rutherford High School in 1974, where she was voted Most Mischievous and Most Humorous. She attended the University of Tennessee at Martin, earning a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education.
Linda married Marvin Brantley Holley in August 1978 in Rutherford, Tennessee. They met as students at UTM and were a testament to true love and care of each other within their marriage.
Linda was a devoted teacher for over 30 years, retiring in 2018 from Martin Middle School in Martin, Tennessee, where she taught special education and gifted students. She deeply cared for her teacher friends and students, and her family is at peace knowing her love will live on hrough them.
She is remembered for her humor, generosity, creativity, and social and fun-loving nature. She loved to be at the home that she invested in by decorating, cooking, and gardening during her active years. She enjoyed a good magazine and delighted in keeping up with family and friends online.
Linda was a member of the United Methodist Church and found her church home for many decades at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Martin, Tennessee. There, she served on the Parrish Life committee, planning fellowship and congregation celebration events.
Remaining to cherish Linda’s memory are husband, Marvin; children and their spouses, Rebecca Holley and Jeremy Ary and Taylor and Sydney Baker Holley; grandson, Everett Ary; siblings Mary Gill and Kriste Elrod, Olivia Holley Mathis, Marilyn Holley and Louis Narowetz, Craig and Michelle Holley, and Roger and Lynn Holley; cousin Barbara Barnett Clark; and many nieces and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by brother-in-law Morris Holley.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 29, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 145 Hannings Lane, Martin, Tennessee.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church. The service will stream online on Trinity’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/trinitypresbyterianmartin) for long-distance family and friends.
