Paris, Tenn.–The men in charge of the work forces responsible for renovating the exterior of the Henry County Courthouse were honored at Monday night’s county commission meeting. Aging trees were moved, new sod installed, new safer walkways installed on the court square in recent months which County Mayor Randy Geiger said, “Really opened up the courthouse. Gave it an all-new look.”
Receiving Loyal Patriot Awards were: Shannon Bethune of H&B Tree Service; Jeffery Forrest of TSC (brick work); Tuffy Craig of Southern Concrete; Michael Turner of Turner Landscaping; and Jason Pooler of Tri Turf Sod Farms.
The Loyal Patriot Award is the highest award that Henry Co. can bestow on private citizens.
Also honored was Allen Ashlock, TCAT instructor, whose students helped repair the third floor windows of the courthouse.
In other business:
–Griffin Paschall of Cottage Grove was election 1st District Road Board Member. Paschall said he farms 2700 acres and looks forward to serving. He said the road department has been doing a good job caring for the roads and he hopes to be able to continue that.
Also nominated was Patrick Smith, who owns L.I. Smith.
–An election was held for new members of the new Henry County Hospital District Board.
Elected was Dr. Kyle Stephens, physician representative to the board; and the following citizens: Butch Powers, John Laudan, Danny Tucker and Larry Hatfield. Commissioners elected were Gatlin Primrose and David “Tater” Hayes.
