UT Martin Vice Chancellor Receives Joe Buck Service Award

MARTIN, Tenn. – Dr. Andy Lewter of Martin, UT Martin vice chancellor for student affairs and a longtime leader in student affairs, was awarded the prestigious Joe Buck Service Award at the Southern Association for College Student Affairs (SACSA) 2024 Conference held in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

The award was presented to Lewter during the closing ceremony of the event Nov. 4, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the field of student affairs and his dedicated service to SACSA over the past 28 years.

Lewter was nominated for the award by his colleagues, who praised him for his unwavering commitment to the profession, his leadership and his mentorship. 

He was described as a “role model, mentor and unsung hero” of SACSA, having impacted countless individuals throughout his career.

In addition to his leadership and mentorship, Lewter’s efforts were also acknowledged for his role as committee chair for resolutions for the upcoming SACSA 2025 Conference in Louisville.

Lewter was accompanied by five staff members from UTM during the award ceremony. The staff members present to support Lewter were Shannon Perry and Priscilla Price from the Office of Student Conduct and Care, Kameron Echols from the Office of Multicultural Affairs, and Demetrius Robinson and Luke Love from Career Planning and Development.
