Kentucky Man Escapes Serious Injury After Trapped In Rising Water

Graves County, Ky.–A Kentucky man miraculously escaped serious injury after being trapped in a vehicle in rising waters due to heavy rains.
On November 13, at approximately 12:02 PM, Graves County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 7500 block of State Route 97, South of Sedalia, in reference to a single vehicle, injury, traffic collision.
David Perry, 71 of Tri City area, was traveling southbound on State Route 97 when he fell asleep behind the wheel. His vehicle exited the east side of State Route 97, drove down the shoulder, impacted several rocks and dirt embankments before overturning. The vehicle then impacted a tree before coming to rest in a deep creek bed. Perry was trapped inside the vehicle with the creek water rising due to heavy rain fall.
Members of the Sedalia Volunteer Fire Department, along with Members of the Mayfield / Graves County EMS were able to extricate Perry from the vehicle. Perry was transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center Emergency Room with non-life-threatening injuries.
