Chief Dale H. Burress, Sr.

Chief Dale H. Burress, Sr., 88, of Union City passed away 9:11 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Ron Gray will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until time of services Friday.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Dale was born May 19, 1936, in Union City, son of the late Omer Jessie and Sarah Susan (Crews) Burress. He married Belva Beatrice “Bea” (Baker) Burress February 8, 1958. She passed away March 4, 2022. He retired from the Union City Fire Department as Chief in 1998 after 38 years of service and was a past president of the Tennessee Fire Chiefs Association. Dale also worked for Union City Public Works and did general construction around Union City for many years.

He is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Burress of Union City; two sons, Dale “Corky” Burress (Shonda) of Drummonds and Dwayne Burress (Betsy) of Franklin; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Wanda Yates of Martin, Sarah Ann Rushing of Spring Hill, Florida and Audrey Waters (Ken) of Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Charles Burress, Sr.
