Paris, Tenn. – The Tennessee Comptroller’s Office, division of property assessment, hosted a conference for newly elected property assessors from across the state at Montgomery Bell State Park on September 22-25, 2024.

Director Bryan Kinsey welcomed the new assessors along with Tennessee Comptroller Jason Mumpower, who addressed and met with each new official.

Educational and training topics included real estate fraud and scams, internal controls, personal property guideline updates, and reappraisal communications.

Newly elected Henry County Property Assessor Scott Morrision was one of the attendees during the four-day conference.  According to Morrison, “It was a great experience to be able to network with over 200 other county officials, many of which were new, but several more seasoned assessors were there to share their experiences.

One of the more interesting topics was learning about the advancements being made in the reappraisal process which is due to happen here in 2025.  We have roughly four years to physically visit and review the roughly 27,000 parcels prior to the reassessment process.  The reappraisal process is done in a five-year cycle.  Our last was in 2020.
